How to get more Google reviews from your clients

BrightLocal, Local Consumer Review Survey, 2024How to get your Google review link
Open your Business Profile
Sign in with the Google account that manages your listing and search for your business name on Google or Maps — your profile controls will appear.
Find "Ask for reviews"
In the profile panel, click "Ask for reviews" or "Get more reviews". Google shows a short link that opens the review form directly.
Save it and use it
Copy the link and add it to your messages. Test it on your phone first: it should open the review form straight away, with no searching.

When to ask for a review
The sweet spot is the same day, an hour or two after the visit. The experience is still fresh, and the client is home with a minute to spare.
- Don't ask at checkout — clients are in a hurry and put it off
- Don't wait a week — details fade and it feels like a chore
- One request and at most one follow-up — more than that gets annoying
- Ask every client the same way, not only the ones who seemed happy

Frequently asked questions
How do I ask a client for a Google review?+
Send a short message the same day after the visit: say thank you, mention the specialist and add a direct link to the review form. Ready templates are above on this page.
Where do I find my Google review link?+
In your Google Business Profile controls, click "Ask for reviews" or "Get more reviews" and copy the short link. It opens the review form directly.
Can I offer a discount for a review?+
No. Google's policies prohibit incentivized reviews, and such reviews can be removed. Ask politely, with no reward.
Will Google penalize my listing for automated requests?+
No, as long as it's a polite request to a real client after a real visit. Google penalizes bought, incentivized and fake reviews, not the act of asking.
How often can I follow up?+
One request and at most one follow-up 2–3 days later is enough. Beyond that, it's better to stop so you don't annoy the client.
